Our Story
Nirvana Indian Cuisine is the culmination of a lifetime spent in love with food. Owner Tarun Gomes came to Montgomery County from Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1985 and has been cooking ever since. Honing his craft in kitchens across India, the Middle East, and Washington, DC.
After running Kashmir Palace in Rockville and Bombay Gaylord in Silver Spring, Tarun opened Nirvana in the Summer of 2018. Every dish carries his story, rooted in authenticity, prepared with patience, pride, and genuine love.

When I first learned of this place opening, I decided to take my wife to try Indian food for the first time… Nirvana offered a double entrée special back when they were starting here, And what a great way to give people a chance to experience what Indian food is like! We both ordered that special many times and got to try most of the menu! What I thought would be my main go to dish, we soon replaced by the lamb vindaloo, which I had never tried before myself! I love it! The staff are always friendly and very accommodating.

The food was excellent. Rich in flavor. All of it was perfectly cooked and still hot when it arrived. Importantly, all of the food was packaged perfectly (since it was a delivery), so it was easy to serve. I would highly recommend Nirvana Indian Cuisine.

I always order the butter chicken with the samosas chaat and garlic naan and it is always very very delicious. I will say I wish the butter chicken portion was slightly bigger considering it’s almost a 20 dollar plate.

Wonderful! Among the best Indian meals we have enjoyed (and we love Indian food). Full of flavor. At Nirvana, the spices shine through without the use of too much oil. (Sometimes, restaurant meals can overuse oil and we leave the restaurant feeling stuffed, but not here). They easily accommodated our requests for vegan dishes. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside and our server was very gracious. We're so glad we discovered this gem and look forward to returning.

Went her to celebrate my Mom's Birthday. They were nice enough to accommodate our large party on a Sunday evening. Service and food were great. This place has really good Indian food and I have gone to a lot of Indian Restaurants.

Wonderful food. Excellent service. This was our first visit and we loved everything about it. The service was great - very attentive without being intrusive and the owner came by several times to check on things and to chat. The food was great and the portions very large. I'm always able to finish my meal at a restaurant, but this time, I took enough food home for a second meal. I highly recommend the Tandoori platter as well as the Chicken Tikka Marsala and the Lamb Karai. The Spiced Hummus appetizer is also excellent. Very welcome addition to the neighborhood.
